for a little girl missing fm say >>> this is kpix5 news on kbcw. >>> breaking news. an amber alert has been issued for a little girl missing and police say they have gotten reports of similar recent kidnappings. our andrea is live now. andrea, what have you learned so far? >> this happened around 7:00 tonight in the driveway of the home you see behind me that is covered in police tape and fronted by antioch police cars. tell kpix5 the suspects in a late 90s gold toyota camry followed natalie and her mother home from wal-mart. pulled a rifle on the mother and little girl. and sped off. now we're hearing that the driver is possibly of mixed race. two men involved. both had facial hair. possibly there were two similar abduction attempts last night at the wal-mart that these suspects followed natalie and her family home from tonight. of course, natalie is seven years old. she is 3 feet tall. this happened around 7:00 p.m. tonight. now, here's what neighbors and police had to say. >> her mother attempted to stop the male from abducting her daughter and when she approached him, the m

and police suspects the driver was drunk. kpix 5's mark kelly outside the home with more. >> reporter: this is not the way you want to start fourth. i just got done talking to neighbors here on this street. they say the second drunk driver made his way down grove way at 5:40 this morning in a silver sedan. let me show you, first he crashed in front of one of these homes hitting a parked car there. but that did not end this story. let me show you down here, let's walk down grove way. he continued on, hit this fence according to neighbors, flipped his car over this fence and over the bmw. and he landed right there on that '66 ford mustang. the homeowner says that's not his ford. that's his brother-in-law's. and his brother-in-law was overseas at the time. >> my brother-in-law, he came and turned the car on, you know, but, uhm, you know, i see that some other car landed on top of that, you know. >> reporter: the chp tells me that the driver did sustain injuries but we don't know the extent of those injuries at this point. but a lot of damage here on grove way. this is not the way you wa

if there was or there was not a threat about this beforehand. live in san francisco, anne makovec, kpix 5. >> some new details this morning in the crash that killed a 6-year-old girl. san francisco police have filed charges now against the driver who plowed know a family on tuesday night. he is identified as 57-year-old [ non-english language ] of union city charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. a mother and two children were crossing polk and ellis when they were hit. a girl was killed and her mother and brother were injured. there were reports that the man worked for uber but that's unconfirmed. >>> friends and family are remembering a 19-year-old woman hit by a pickup while carryinger who baby in fremont. ashley capuchin died tuesday night. her 3-month-old son is in critical condition. she got into an argument with the car and left with the child and her younger sister. the sister's injuries are less serious. >>> it's the second day of the new year and san jose is already investigating its first homicide of the year. kpix 5's kiet do

updates tonight, tomorrow morning, and as always on kpix.com. >>> two people were hurt when a car collided with a fire truck this is the aftermath. one passenger in the mercedes was hurt, and one firefighter had to be taken to the hospital. the injuries are not life threatening. police are investigating, but it looks like the mercedes driver is at fault. >> the fire department was going to an emergency vehicle with their lights and sirens on. the other vehicle was going westbound on howard, and apparently they failed to yield to the fire truck. >> there's no word on what kind of incident the fire crew was responding to when it happened. >>> an overnight shooting left one man dead. it happened near closing time outside of a club on the 1800 block of post street. the victim was standing in a group outside of the club when he was shot and killed. it's not clear if gillford was specifically targeted. police want any witnesses to come forward. >>> a pedestrian is dead after being hit by a car near the 4th street onramp to 80 at 2:30 in the morning. the driver stopped, and so far no charges have

, everybody! ,,,,,,,,,, >>> this is kpix 5 news. >>> breaking news, a mom and her two children were crossing the street when suddenly they were hit by a car. sglit happened on a busy street in san francisco at poll k and ellis. andria borba is at the scene right now. >> you can take a look behind me. this crash happened at 8:00, but here at 11:00, they are still taking measurements. it happened around 8:00 when a mother and her two children were crossing when they were strushg by an suv. now, just moments ago we were told the driver of that suv was taken into custody, charged with vehicular manslaughter. san francisco police can't say exactly why this driver was taken into custody for vehicular manslaughter at this point, but they are saying drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this case. the entire family was taken to sf general at which point a 7-year-old girl died @ the san francisco general hospital. >> we do have the driver of the vehicle who was being questioned by police during the course of the investigation, we developed enough probable cause to arrest him for vehicular

, doctors can legally take jahi mcmath off life support. kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran reports from children's oakland hospital with a developing story that left a family with few options. >> reporter: michelle, the clock is ticking at this point and we know that the family is here spending what could be the final hours with jahi mcmath. running out of time and running out of options. >> -- >> at 5:00 today, the ventilator can be removed. barring any other legal action by the family. >> reporter: jahi mcmath's family is in the process of trying to move her to another hospital. they were turned down by two california facilities and are waiting to hear from a new york hospital hospital. >> she is deceased. no amount of hope or prayer can bring her back. >> reporter: last week an outside physician appointed by the court agreed with the hospital's diagnosis of brain death. we did reach out to the family and the family's attorney. we heard from jahi's uncle who says the family might be releasing a statement this afternoon so we'll just have to wait and see. as far as we know, we haven't gotten a

victim. the wounded man was declared dead at the hospital. so far, no suspects. >>> kpix 5's anne makovec is on a developing story in san francisco where a fire at the chinese consulate building appears to be arson. what can you tell us about the investigation? >> >> reporter: you can see the damage at the entrance of the chinese consulate building on laguna street in san francisco. the u.s. state department is now involved in the investigation categorized as arson. here is one of several pictures being circulated on social media this morning of the front door burning. the chinese consulate's office says someone in a minivan pulled up, poured two buckets of gasoline on the door and set it on fire at around 9:30 last night. the fire department had it out in about 10 minutes. but you can see the damage here. the consulate spokesman calls the arson a sabotage of a vile nature and despicable attack. back out here live in san francisco, you can see there is a security camera that is point squarely at the front entrance so that is sure to be part of this investigation. in the meantime, the chin
